The faces painted on the boats were old time approaches to frighten any large aquatic animals beneath the water. As the years progressed and essentially overfishing occurred, animals such as alligators became less plentiful in the Delta, rendering the painted faces to become less valuable. Today, they were a neat factor which show history from the area.
